Vassilis Karantounias
Vassilis Karantounias is an Of Counsel at CMS Brussels. He advises clients on EU law with a focus on data protection, intellectual property and regulatory affairs. He is an acknowledged data protection lawyer, IAPP-certified (CIPP/E, CIPM), and has published articles and given speeches inter alia on privacy and health research as well as Blockchain. He serves on the Data Protection Committee of MedTechEurope. He is an advisor to the European Blockchain Services Infrastructure (EBSI), currently working on the data protection impact assessment of the EBSI core services. Until 2013, Vassilis practised law in Athens and was a corporate and litigation Partner to a top-tier law firm. Until 2017, he worked in the European Commission (DG for Economic and Financial Affairs) in Brussels. He has been repeatedly ranked and featured in global and European legal guides.
